WELCOME TO DISABILITY TRAINING
I’m Dom, the founder of Disability Training, and my aim is to provide quality personal training and online fitness coaching for disabled people. I look past your disability, and at you as an individual. If you’re looking for a personal trainer who specialises in working with disabled people & chronic illnesses, or if you have a disability and you’re looking to get fit, you’re in the right place. I’ll find out what you CAN do and apply all the rules of health and fitness in ways which work with you and your body. I love to encourage people to start working out in spite of their disabilities.
HOW I CAN HELP YOU
I’m not here to “cure” or “fix” your disability. That’s not what Disability Training is about. I’m here to help you exercise in spite of your disability. Often as a result of this, we’ll see an improvement in your strength, balance, coordination, body composition and general physical ability.
Since 2018 I’ve moved everything to online coaching because the results my clients were getting remotely far outperformed those who I was visiting in person. With online coaching, no matter where you are, how mobile you are or what your diary looks like, my team and I will be able to provide programmes and nutrition advice, create a personalised, structured training routine based on you, your body and your goals.
There IS no rule book. I had to throw it out the window a long time ago. Each and every disability has its own quirks and hurdles. Each and every person with a specific disability can vary massively in their level of ability or symptoms, so I can’t simply use a pre-written programme. I have to carefully consider, adapt and create bespoke exercises to suit you, in order to get the most from our sessions together.
I’m currently the featured fitness instructor for the exercise videos provided by The MS Society where you can find multiple workout videos which can be done in the home.
Since filming these videos I’ve works with The MS Society to deliver The MS Warrior Programme and MS warrior Programm 2 to hundreds of their contacts, and raised around £5000 for MS Charities with my solo bike ride from London to Edinburgh. This took 5 days but I stopped off at homes of people with MS along the way to help them exercise, in return for a hearty lunch or a bed to sleep in.
